Richmond Road Intersection Upgrade

Project Overview

CES delivered the Quakers Hill Parkway / Richmond Road / Knox Road Intersection Upgrade for Fulton Hogan on behalf of Transport for NSW. The project involved major intersection and road upgrade works designed to improve traffic capacity, safety and overall functionality at this key intersection. Works were undertaken through staged construction, detailed planning and coordination within a live traffic environment.

Scope of Work

• Extension of three right-turn bays including: Richmond Road onto Knox Road — extended from 80m to 265m, Richmond Road onto Quakers Hill Parkway — extended from 85 m to 195 m, Knox Road onto Richmond Road — extended from 40 m to 90 m
• Pavement widening and tie-in works. Construction of rigid and flexible pavements as well as staged pavement works and final tie-ins
• Subgrade preparation and proof rolling, subgrade stabilisation where required. Unsuitable material and SMZ/subgrade replacement
• Road lighting upgrades including new poles, luminaires, conduits, cabling and terminations. Thermoplastic line marking and installation of RPMs
• Installation and reinstatement of road signage as well as removal of redundant pavement markings

Key Achievements

• Successfully delivered three major right-turn bay extensions, including increasing the Richmond Road to Knox Road turn bay from 80 m to 265 m.
• Delivered complex roadworks within a live, high-traffic intersection environment.
• Coordinated pavement, median, electrical and finishing works through staged construction to minimise disruption to road users.
• Delivered rigid and flexible pavement works in accordance with Transport for NSW requirements.
• Improved turning capacity, traffic flow and safety across the intersection.
• Successfully coordinated civil and road lighting works as part of an integrated construction program.
• Achieved a high-quality final finish across pavement, line marking, signage and associated road infrastructure.
